Snapper, Snook & Shark Battles on a Florida Keys Half Day Trip
Date: 1/10/26
We headed out for a late morning half day fishing charter in the Florida Keys, and the action stayed consistent from start to finish. With good weather and steady tide movement, we focused on inshore fishing in the Florida Keys, working structure and current lines to stay on active fish.
The mangrove snapper fishing was strong, and we caught plenty of quality snapper—more than enough to take home for a fresh Florida Keys dinner. In between snapper bites, schools of jack crevalle kept rods bent, delivering hard runs and nonstop action that made the trip exciting for everyone on board.
We also hooked into a couple of big sharks, which made for some intense battles before they broke off near the boat. To cap off the day, we were able to land two Florida Keys snook, adding a great inshore highlight to an already productive trip.
Overall, it was a classic Florida Keys half day fishing trip—steady action, a full cooler, exciting shark hookups, and quality snook to round it out. If you’re looking for a fun and action-packed Florida Keys fishing charter, late morning trips can be an excellent option.

We headed out for an afternoon Florida Keys half day fishing charter, and right from the start the action was steady. This trip was extra fun because it was the crew’s first time fishing, so we spent a little time going over the basics, teaching bait presentation, how to fight fish properly, and how to stay tight on the bite. They picked it up fast—and I’d say we trained them right!
The mangrove bite fired up as the tide started moving, and before long we were boating quality mangrove snapper one after another. We ended up catching our full limit of snapper, perfect for a fresh Florida Keys dinner and exactly what they were hoping for when they booked the trip.
In between snapper bites, the jack crevalle showed up and kept things exciting with their powerful runs and drag-screaming fights—always a blast, especially for first-time anglers experiencing that kind of pull for the first time.
Overall, it was an awesome afternoon on the water with great people, plenty of laughs, steady action, and a cooler full of fish heading back to the dock. If you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly Florida Keys fishing charter, a half day trip is a perfect way to get hooked on fishing!

We headed out early in the Florida Keys for a morning half day fishing charter, and conditions couldn’t have lined up much better. Light winds, moving water, and comfortable weather set us up for a fun morning of steady action.
Working along mangrove shorelines and structure, it didn’t take long before we hooked into a solid Florida Keys snook. The fish put up an awesome fight with strong runs and powerful headshakes before coming to the boat. We took a quick photo and safely released it to swim off healthy.
From there, the bite stayed consistent. We caught plenty of Florida Keys mangrove snapper, giving anglers nonstop action. Jack crevalle also kept things exciting, crushing baits and putting on drag-screaming runs that always make for great memories on the water.
Overall, it was a classic Florida Keys fishing morning—beautiful weather, constant rod-bending action, a quality snook, and plenty of happy anglers on board. If you’re looking for a fun and action-packed Florida Keys fishing charter, a half day trip is a great way to experience the incredible inshore fishing this area is known for.

We headed out into the Gulf for a full day Florida Keys cobia fishing charter, and the action kept us busy from start to finish. After finding good life and steady bait, we were able to hook into three solid Gulf cobia throughout the day. Unfortunately, the sharks were hungry and managed to get two of them during some intense battles right next to the boat.
Luckily, we were able to land one beautiful big cobia, putting a great fish in the box and a huge smile on everyone’s faces. Outside of the cobia action, the fishing stayed consistent all day, allowing us to bring back plenty of other quality fish like big Jack crevalle and a few nice tripletail keeping rods bent from morning to afternoon.
Overall, it was an awesome full day on the water with great weather, exciting cobia hookups, a memorable big fish, and plenty of fillets heading home with the crew. If you’re looking for an adventurous Gulf fishing charter in the Florida Keys, this is one of the most exciting trips you can experience!

Weather: Sunny very calm and about 80 degrees
What we caught: 20 trout, 4 redfish, 5 snook, and 1 big lemon shark
Description: We fished hard today, focused on completing a backcountry slam. The morning started along the shorelines where we landed several solid snook, the biggest measuring 26 inches — and lost an even larger one right beside the boat. From there, we moved out to open water to target trout and found a big school, catching around twenty before leaving them biting to chase the final piece of the slam. We wrapped up the day poling shallow flats, sight-fishing for redfish pushing wakes through skinny water. The lemon shark was the cherry on top — drag-screaming runs and a long, hard fight. To finish it all off, we took first place in the tournament!

Weather: Sunny very calm and about 85 degrees
What we caught: 8 trout, 2 redfish, and 5 snook
Description: We started the day targeting snook but lost quite a few early on — just some tough luck and a few moments of lost tension. It’s crucial to keep steady pressure on a snook, because once they jump, they’ll throw the hook every time. After that, we moved out to open water and caught a bunch of trout, mostly around 15 inches. The clients were eager to chase redfish in the skinny water, so we headed to one of my favorite spots where the tide and wind lined up perfectly — and the redfish were everywhere. We landed two right away and saw plenty more, but sometimes the fish win when the casts just don’t land where they need to. We even spotted some big tarpon cruising the flats with their backs out of the water. By the end of the day, the clients were all smiles.

Weather: Sunny and calm
What we caught: 15 trout, 1 redfish, 1tarpon, and 1 snook
Description: We fished the Friendly Flamingo Fishing Tournament today and started the morning strong with a 31.5-inch snook, followed shortly after by a small 22-inch tarpon. From there, we moved out to open water around 8 feet deep to target trout and caught plenty, though none quite big enough — they needed to be 15 inches to count, and our biggest measured 14.75". After that, we switched gears and went after big redfish, landing a solid 26.5-incher. Even though we didn’t place in the tournament because of the trout, we still had an awesome day on the water and finished with a super slam. This tournament is always competitive, but it was a great day all around!

Weather: Sunny and pretty windy
What we caught: 1 trout, 1 redfish, about 15 snook
Description: We started the morning looking for snook, and after about an hour and a few different spots, we found them. Once we did, the bite turned on — we caught plenty and eventually left them biting to chase a backcountry slam. On the way to a redfish spot, we stopped to try for trout and hooked one right away. After that, we moved onto the flats to target redfish and spotted a few really big ones cruising in the shallow water and ended up catching only 1. Sometimes the fish win.

Weather: Overcast slightly rainy day
What we caught: 1 Tarpon
Description: Today I fished solo during late tarpon season, scouting for new spots. I found quite a few tarpon in pods — very healthy fish — but when I threw a topwater, I spooked them. I think they didn’t like the noise and preferred something quieter. Sometimes you have to learn tough lessons, but it was a low-pressure day just fishing for fun. I managed to land one big fish and had a few bites. Solo scouting trips like this are how all my spots have been discovered, so days like these are necessary to keep learning about our unique fishery that changes every day.
